JUDGING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers are always needed to help judge team submittals for the Idaho Regional Future City Competition. A description of each judging aspect is described below along with estimated time commitments.

COMPUTER CITY DESIGN

Judging will take place: Dec. 3rd- Jan. 6th.

Each team designed their future city with SimCity 4 software. The Computer City Design illustrates the different zoning sections, residential and building structures, and transportation and power systems of their city. Judges are asked to evaluate the city's layout, its energy efficiency, and its livability. Judges are asked to evaluate the disk submittals (at their leisure) based on specific guidelines.

Time commitment is estimated at 5-6 hours.



ESSAY/CITY NARRATIVE

Judging will take place: Dec. 17th - Jan. 6th

Teams were asked to describe how to provide a sustainable and affordable living space for people who have lost their home due to a disaster or financial emergency.". In addition to the 700-1000 word essay, the teams also write a 300-500 word city narrative describing their future city and some of its services. Judges are asked to evaluate the paper's content and creativity (at their leisure) based on specific guidelines. Background information on the topic along with key points will be provided.

Time commitment is estimated at 6 hours.



CITY MODEL

Judging will take place: Jan. 9th, 8:00am-Noon at Jordan Ballroom at BSU Student Union Building

Teams were asked to build a scale model of a section of their city. Judging teams (3 judges per team) must evaluate the creativity, attractiveness, accuracy, and moving components of the model. Judges will be given scoring sheets with specific criteria to evaluate teams. Multiple teams of judges will be evaluating the teams during the time period.

Time commitment is estimated at 4 hours.



PRESENTATION

Judging will take place: Jan. 9th, 8:00am-Noon at Jordan Ballroom at BSU Student Union Building

Each team will prepare a 5-7 minute presentation discussing their city and its amenities. Students will be evaluated on how well they can explain the design and function of their futuristic city. Judging teams (3 judges per team) must ask students at least three questions after their presentation. Samples questions will be provided or feel free to ask your own. Scoring sheets with specific criteria will be given to the judges to evaluate teams. Multiple teams of judges will be evaluating the teams during the time period.

Time commitment is estimated at 4 hours.
