Sponsor: T-O Engineers Best Integrated Public Transportation SystemCriteria: Public transportation provides greater freedom, access, opportunity and choice for citizens. It also strengthens communities by stimulating the economy, reducing traffic congestion, decreasing dependency on foreign oil, preserving a healthy, safe environment and creating jobs. Since everyone benefits from public transportation regardless of whether you ride on it, public transportation is a advantageous feature to include in a city.
This award is for the city with the best interconnected public transportation system that allows citizens to utilize multiple transportation systems as they go about their daily routines. Points will be given for the most innovative, efficient, and futuristic transportation systems. Do not limit your city to current modes of transportation, invent the "people-movers" of tomorrow. For some ideas to help get you thinking, current modes of public transportation include all vehicles designed to transport people. These vehicles include: buses, trolleybuses, vanpools, trains, public bikes, commuter rails, planes, cable cars, monorails, and ferryboats.
Sponsor: HDR Best Transportation SystemCriteria: Creative design of a transportation system that allows both mobility and transport of goods and services.
